Lisa Miller

Lisa Ivie Miller joined CAPTRUST in 2019 as a principal and financial advisor from South Texas Money Management where she served as a partner and relationship manager. A native of Amarillo, Lisa received her Bachelor of Science degree from West Texas A&M University and her Master of Science degree from Sam Houston State University. She worked with the late state senator Teel Bivins of Amarillo in his district and Capitol offices for seven years before beginning her career in governmental relations for statewide firefighters’ association and then for the law firm Hance Scarborough, LLP.

 In 2004, the Governor of Texas appointed Lisa to serve as the state’s 7th firefighters’ pension commissioner, a position she held until joining South Texas Money Management in late 2010. Lisa holds an Accredited Investment Fiduciary (AIF®) designation and a Series 65, Registered Investment Advisory Representative license.  Lisa is active in the Texas Association of Public Employee Retirement Systems (TEXPERS) serving as the presidential advisor and in many board and committee capacities. She also serves as the Vice-President of the National Association of Securities Professionals, Texas Chapter.

Lisa is currently a member of the President’s Council for the Dell Medical Center at the University of Texas, an Advisory Member of the First Tee of Greater Austin, a board member for the Science Mill, and is a founding member of Juliette’s Circle for the Girl Scouts of Central Texas. She holds membership with the Association of Fundraising Professionals, both the Greater Austin and Texas Plains Chapters, providing fiduciary education and training to its members.  Lisa is a graduate of Leadership Women 2019, chairs the Governance Committee for Texas Women for the Arts and is a member of the Harrington Cancer and Health Foundation’s Women’s Circle. Lisa has also served the Austin community on the boards of the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Central Texas and the Greater Austin Crime Commission
