Encouraged by his parents at a young age, Greg opened a Basic programming language book to learn how to make games for the family’s computer, which started a lifelong love of building, breaking, and repeating the process with anything and everything he could get his hands on.  He attended The Ohio State University where he learned to focus that energy and earned a BSECE (electrical and computer engineering) degree.  His interest in STEM education started right out of college while working as a design engineer at National Instruments and teaching robotics to elementary school children, and he came to appreciate the impact that was possible as past students returned to share stories of their journeys.  Greg joined Silicon Labs in 2004 and has held senior engineering, business, and leadership roles, with a focus on wireless technologies for broadcast radio and IoT products.  Today he’s responsible for strategy and corporate development, which is building companies through mergers and acquisitions.  He’s reminded he shouldn’t break things in this role, so he finds his outlet with hobbies like gardening and home improvement.  Greg lives in Austin with his amazing wife, Joy, and together they enjoy encouraging their young nieces and nephews to build, break and repeat.
