Bob Oliver is a retired geologist and oil and gas executive. Before retiring in 2020, Bob was co-founder of Metano Energy based in San Antonio.  Metano Energy was a private equity backed E&P company established in 2003 and staffed by the former exploration and production management team from Tesoro Petroleum.  Bob has a degree in geology and mathematics from Vanderbilt University and an MBA from TCU.  He has 40 years of experience in the energy industry and has worked on oil and gas projects not only in the US but also Bolivia, Argentina, China, Pakistan and Canada.  Prior to forming Metano Energy, he held various executive management positions at Ross Perot’s family oil company Petrus Oil, an Australian exploration company Bridge Oil (USA), Tesoro Petroleum and EEX Corporation.  He currently serves on the Board of Regents at Texas Lutheran University, and has served over 20 years on the Association Board of the YMCA of Greater San Antonio including Board Chair from 2019-2022.  Bob and his wife, Karin, have a daughter, son-in-law and two grandchildren living in Durham, North Carolina.
