Matt Marchant

Matt Marchant brings a unique combination of nonprofit leadership, business development, education, and STEM programming to the Science Mill. Throughout his career, he has been passionate about building organizations and programs that create meaningful opportunities for children and communities.

A lifelong advocate for science education, Matt is the author of two children’s books focused on sharks and marine conservation and has taught more than 50,000 students across Texas about sharks, ocean ecosystems, and conservation. His work with students has reinforced his belief that curiosity is one of the most powerful tools for learning—and that a single moment of discovery can inspire a lifelong interest in science.

Before joining the Science Mill, Matt founded and led nonprofit organizations, built businesses, developed educational programs, and secured grant funding to support mission-driven initiatives. He brings that diverse experience to his work at the museum, helping strengthen operations, expand STEM programming, and create new opportunities for the Science Mill to serve children, educators, and families.

Matt is especially excited about the Science Mill’s ability to make STEM education engaging, accessible, and inspiring. He believes that when children are given the opportunity to explore, ask questions, experiment, and discover the world around them, they begin to see themselves as scientists, engineers, innovators, and problem-solvers.

Outside of the Science Mill, Matt enjoys spending time with his wife, Heather, their two children, Maverick and Hazel, and their two chocolate labs, Chunk and Bear.
