Dun dun. Dun dun. It’s Shark Week - July 11-18 (not open on Monday, 7/17)

10 am to 5 pm daily

Join us as we celebrate the environmental impact of sharks, explore their mysterious ways, and discover how people have made careers out of studying sharks. Dive into daily shark-themed activities all week, including:

Dogfish Shark Dissections (Tuesday - Friday, 11am & 1pm daily)- Follow along as we dissect a shark and talk through the life and biology of sharks with dogfish shark dissections. *Note - no shark dissections on July 12th!)

Matt "The Shark Guy" Marchant (July 12th ONLY - 11am and 1pm)- Matt Marchant is a shark photographer, author and conservationist. He and his camera have been up close and personal with all types of sharks, and he will share tales of his close encounters as an underwater shark photographer in a special presentation.

Sensory Shark Tag (10:30 am, 12 pm, 2:30 pm daily) - Play a game of tag and learn how sharks find their prey in the ocean using electroreceptors and a sensory organ called lateral line.

Sharks in Motion (all day) - Learn about individual sharks in the Gulf of Mexico and all around the world by following OCEARCH tracking sharks on an interactive map.

SciDive 4D Virtual Reef Experience (all day) - returns for a limited time! Put on SciDive’s immersive VR headset and use your arms to control the full-body motion table; suddenly, you’re a sea turtle, exploring your coral reef home—but look out for sharks! (Limited spots daily; sign up at the front desk)

Cardboard Challenge: Create Your Own Shark (all day) – use found materials to design and bring to life your very own undersea creature!

Great White Shark 3D (Playing every hour, on the hour, in our 3D Theater) - Sharks leap off the big screen in this breathtaking encounter with the predator we love to fear. This short film explores the Great White’s place in our imaginations, in our fears, and in the reality of its role at the top of the oceanic food chain.

Oceans Our Blue Planet 3D (Playing every hour, on the half-hour, in our 3D Theater) - Embark on a global odyssey to discover the largest and least explored habitat on earth.

Replica Megalodon Jaws (all day) - Compare your pearly whites! Get your photo taken with the jaws of the largest shark to ever live, then stop by the touch table in the bio lab to examine an actual megalodon tooth!

Dig for Shark Teeth (all day) - Dig for shark teeth and fossils in the fossil dig exhibit. Finders, Keepers!

Deep Sea Robotics (all day) - Explore a world seven miles underwater as you guide an underwater robotic drone over and around the jagged rocks of a deep ocean trench in the Science Mill’s newest exhibit - Deep Sea Robotics.

All activities are included with your general admission, and as always, Science Mill members receive unlimited free admission. General admission is $11 per adult, $9.50 for ages 3-18, $9.00 for seniors, $5.50 for military, and free for ages 0-2.
