Spectacular Science of Light

  • Science Mill 101 South Lady Bird Lane Johnson City, TX, 78636 United States (map)

It’s a colorful and musical Thanksgiving week at the Science Mill for the Spectacular Science of Light!

Learn about the science of light & sound through hands-on activities like making a Newton’s Disc, UV Bead Bracelets, and a Music Visualizer!

FLOOR ACTIVITIES

Newton’s Disc - This physics demonstration shows how white light is a combination of the 7 colors in a rainbow. When the rainbow colors of the Newton's disc spins fast, they blur together, causing our eyes to see white.

UV Bead Bracelets - Learn about Ultraviolet light (UV) in this electromagnetic spectrum project where you create a UV sensitive bead bracelet!

Music Visualizer - Experience the visualization of sound waves from various music selections through the Music Visualizer. Vibrations within the Music Visualizer will allow you to observe as frequency and amplitude manifest in the creation of unique shapes and patterns.
