April Homeschool Day: Forensics

This month, Homeschool Students will become STEM Detectives to conduct various investigations and solve mysteries around the Science Mill.

FLOOR ACTIVITIES

DNA Extraction - Students will learn about the process of DNA extraction and how it is used in crime investigations by using strawberries!

Hidden Chromatography - Students will learn about chromatography and how it relates to forensic investigations

Owl Pellet Dissections - Students will dissect owl pellets to discover what types of animals and foods these large birds prey on! While supplies last

LEARNING LABS

K-2 Forensics Fun - Students will make their own fingerprints and try to solve a mystery

3-5 & 6-12 UT Blood Lab - Special presenters from UT Austin will lead a student workshop about blood coagulation

STEM Mentorship Hour

Mystery at the Museum - Chidi the tortoise is missing! Students will put on their detective hats to find Chidi and identify the culprit who took him before it’s too late!
