Your students will be engaged and immersed in STEM as they explore over 50 hands-on exhibits throughout the museum. This package includes a scheduled lunch time and a reserved time in our 3D theater for your group to view a science themed movie.

With our free explore package you are able to book a cross curricular field trip experience with the National Park Service.

The free exploration model of our field trip is purposefully designed to indulge students’ curiosity allowing them an experiential learning opportunity to discover STEM with limited instructions to create a unique experience with every interaction. This model also allows teachers greater freedom in designing learning goals for their field trips!

Through cutting-edge technology-based exhibits, games and learning labs, the Science Mill expands students’ understanding and appreciation of science in their everyday lives.

Zip Away - Students will work in teams through the engineering design process. They will craft a carrier for their zipline, make improvements to their design, and complete challenges at varying slopes to investigate forces, movement, and speed. Students will actively apply the Engineering Design Process to a fun engineering design challenge. 45 Minutes

Marble Roller Coaster - Students work in small groups to build a roller coaster with at least one loop and one jump, demonstrating how potential energy transforms into kinetic energy. Students observe the relationship of height to potential energy, and the resulting gravitational kinetic energy. 60 Minutes

Roller Coaster Tycoon - Students will work in small groups to build a roller coaster with at least two loops and one jump, demonstrating how potential energy transforms into kinetic energy. Students will be able to observe the relationship of height to gravitational potential energy, and the resulting kinetic energy.
